Music Research Topic
The topic that most interests me is the topic about the change in music over the past century. I am very passionate about music and it plays a huge role in my life. Before coming to Clemson I had played piano for 12 years, mostly focusing in jazz and blues. I love this type of music and even though it is still around today it is not as prominent. I am wondering how entire genres of music are just decreasing in popularity at such rapid rates or completely disappearing. We have seen so much change in musical styles over the years and a lot of the newer genres of music stem from the former genres. So, are these newer versions just upgrades from the old genres or are they completely independent? Do these old genres just vanish into thin air and you never hear them again? Like I have said before we went from Sinatra to The Beatles to Mick Jagger, Bob Marley then to Tupac and Biggie, and now to Skrillex and Katy Perry. This drastic change in styles really intrigues me because I wonder is there a connection or is it just change in eras. Whenever my grandma is in the car with me and I listen to my music she says she wants to listen to real music like Frank Sinatra or Stevie Wonder or Michael Jackson. So, in my mind i'm wondering is what I am listening to not "real" music. Who is to say what real music is, it is up to the listener, ultimately, to decide whether that music is "real" or not. I want to know whether all generations, former and present, like the music from other eras or not. I also want to know how and why music has changed and the influences that have made these changes.

Don't Drink and Drive Thesis
This advertisement is directed towards the foolish people who decide that it is a good idea to drive home after drinking one too many. It creatively shows the possibility of a crash through the use of bottle caps with cars on them in order to draw in attention of those who thought the advertisement was a beer advertisement.
Vitae Shelters Thesis
This advertisement by Vitae Shelters calls everyone out on the amount of wasted food we have that can go to homeless people who don't have the luxuries we do. In showing a homeless man's image on the inside of the trashcan followed by the word "Help" it really guilts us into wasting less food and giving our excess to those who truly need it.
